BiographyL J Roy Wilson, Ph.D., former coordinator and instructor in teacher education and Canadian history at Medicine Hat College (1973-2003) has served as a public school trustee with Medicine Hat School District No. 76 since 1980. On three separate occasions he has chaired the board and during his tenure, has been president of both the Alberta School Boards Association and the Canadian School Boards Association. The recipient of Medicine Hat College’s Academic Excellence Award in 1998, he was awarded both the Alberta Home and School Association and the Alberta School Boards Association President’s Awards. In 2005 he was awarded the Alberta Centennial medal for his contributions to education in Alberta. He is the 2012 recipient of Medicine Hat College’s Honourary Applied Baccalaureate Degree. Dr. Wilson has served as a volunteer/director/chair on many community/provincial and national boards; most recently as a director on the board and as chair of the Good Samaritan Society, Alberta/BC. In addition he is serving his second term as a Senator, University of Alberta. He is a published author and celebrated the launch of his recently completed book, "Leading Edge", the History of the Medicine Hat School District No. 76, 1886 – 2011. |
