BiographyGitta is a longtime resident of Medicine Hat Gitta has held a variety of positions related to services for children and families, including Executive Director of the Medicine Hat and District Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association; Regional Coordinator of the Southeastern Alberta Community Resource Centre; and as Community Facilitator with the Office of the Commissioner of Services for Children and Families. Gitta served as the Co-Chair of Region 2 Child and Family Services Authority Board. Gitta served as President of the Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta from 1991-1995; and was Chairman of the Medicine Hat Family and Community Support Services Advisory Board from 1989-1995. She has chaired many community boards including the Southeast Regional Mental Health Planning Committee; the Respite Steering Committee; the Day Care Review Committee; and Volunteer Recognition Week. She has also served as a member on a variety of boards including the United Way and the Wild Rose Foundation Provincial Volunteer Week Planning Committee. She is a trained volunteer instructor with the Board Development Program/AB Community Development. In 1992, Gitta was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125 th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation for her community volunteer activities. Gitta serves on the boards of the Medicine Hat Block Parent Program; Community Food Connections of Southeastern Alberta; Growing Food Security in Alberta Steering Committee; and the Breakfast for Learning Alberta Advisory Council. She has served as a school trustee since 2001. |
