Hospital and Homebound Instruction
Each year several students are ill for prolonged periods of time. In some cases the student's educational program may be in jeopardy without specific tutorial assistance.
When students are homebound or hospitalized services may be provided by the Medicine Hat School District upon request through the Program and Instruction Department. Instruction is limited to a maximum of five hours per week. Parents and/or teachers may request service by applying to the school principal or his/her designate.
Occasionally students with severe emotional or behavioural disorders may also be provided with this service.
Home Education
Parents have a right and a responsibility to make decisions regarding the education of their children. Parents may choose to exercise this responsibility through a home education program with assistance from and under the supervision of a school board or an accredited private school in order to ensure that their child will have the opportunity to meet standards of education acceptable to the Minister.
